Dead Man’s Gift – Part Three – Simon Kernick

Published June 2014

The FINAL installment in this direct to digital short-story. A race-against-time three-part adventure from the bestselling author of Relentless, Siege and Ultimatum, Simon Kernick.

Ex-soldier Scope has less than 12 hours to find his kidnapped nephew and he’s only got one lead to go on.

The clock’s ticking and, as Scope gets to work, he soon discovers he’s up against a vicious and dangerous criminal network, and he’s going to need all his determination and ingenuity just to stay alive …

My thoughts

Finally the third and final part of Simon Kernick’s exciting thriller. Although it was released in installments, I have read it at my own pace.

We finally know what the kidnapper wanted from Tim Horton, the MP and why. A terrible event takes place at the beginning of the book.

Scope is on the trail of the kidnapper, tracing him and following him to a local hospital. He is also trying to get to young Max, who is being held captive by the sociopathic Celia. Scope finds out the rough location of Max and heads there to save him. Can he get there in time to save the boy?

A very satisfying ending. A quality read! I was rooting for Scope and hope to find him again in Kernick’s books.

About Northern Crime

Reviewer with a mind of her own. This is a collection of book reviews, which started in 2014. Mostly crime and odd other genres thrown in. Some I loved. Some I loathed. You get the picture.
