Time’s up. You’re Next.
“All he had to do was name the woman he wanted. It was that easy. They would do all the hard work.”
Detective Sergeant Mark ‘Heck’ Heckenburg is investigating the disappearance of 38 different women. Each one was happy and successful until they vanished without a trace.
Desperate to find her missing sister, Lauren Wraxford seeks out Heck’s help. Together they enter a seedy underworld of gangsters and organised crime.
But when they hear rumours about the so-called ‘Nice Guys Club’ they hit a brick wall. They’re the gang that no one will talk about. Because the Nice Guys can arrange anything you want. Provided you pay the price…
Dark, terrifying and unforgettable. Stalkers will keep fans of Stuart MacBride and Katia Lief looking over their shoulder.
A big thanks to all the people who mentioned this author to me on Goodreads or Twitter.
This is the first outing for Heck, also known as Detective Sergeant Mark Heckenburg. Heck is investigating the disappearance of 38 women, when the case is suddenly pulled by his superiors. These women had no reason to die and they just vanished into thin air. After two years of hard graft, Heck is not giving up. He is a down to earth copper, with a passion for justice. He sets off on his own to trace leads and meets Lauren. Lauren’s sister is one of the missing women. Heck finds himself being chased by killers, being set up for crimes and tracking down a dangerous criminal gang, ‘The Nice Guys Club’.
A wonderful strong, action-packed crime read, with a lovely sense of realism about it! From the first page, I was highly impressed with Heck and the dark goings on. Heck is an unconventional copper, with his heart in the right place. I love the way he won’t take any nonsense from his bosses. He is a maverick and we all love one of those! Finch has done a superb job with Lauren and created a gutsy female lead. Lauren is a tough Leeds lass and an equal to Heck.
