My thoughts

Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for my review copy of this book.

How wonderful. A short Christmas horror story. Just perfect (in a subversive way) for this time of year!!!

The story opens in 1514 Germany, with a child called Greta anxiously waiting for Saint Nicholas to come on St Nicholas’s Eve. All very Christmassy and familiar. However the Saint Nicholas/Santa that comes is not the nice, friendly bloke we all think of. This one is a monster who takes children and eats them. How refreshing!

The story shifts to the present day and England. Katie, Jake and Emily are at home waiting for their Mum to return from work. Slowly we begin to realise that the monster from 1514,  takes children throughout time and he is about to come for three more children.

Brilliant and hilarious. I was rooting for the monster. I just loved it!

About Northern Crime

Reviewer with a mind of her own. This is a collection of book reviews, which started in 2014. Mostly crime and odd other genres thrown in. Some I loved. Some I loathed. You get the picture.
