Meet Me At Malmo – Torquil Macleod

Published in paperback March 2015 by McNidder and Grace

A British journalist is invited to Malmö to interview an old university friend who is now one of Sweden s leading film directors. When he discovers the directors glamorous film star wife dead in her apartment, the Skåne County Police are called in to solve the high-profile case. Among the investigating team is Inspector Anita Sundström, who soon finds the list of suspects growing. As Anita battles to discover the answers amid the antagonism of some of her colleagues, she even begins to think that the person she is becoming attracted to could be the murderer.

This is the first in a series of the best-selling crime mysteries featuring Inspector Anita Sundström.

My thoughts

A very promising start to a series set in Sweden featuring Inspector Anita Sundstrom.

A nice but dim journalist jumps at the chance to go to Sweden to interview an old university friend, film director Mick Roslyn. Roslyn is married to film star Malin Lovgren. Marlin is found murdered. Ewan Strachan, the Scottish journalist, finds his trip to Sweden turns into a nightmare. Anita Sundstrom, divorcee and blunt Swede, is brought in to investigate. Who would want to kill Marlin Lovgren?

This had a very old fashioned feel to it. A kind of Agatha Christie style mystery, with a well crafted lead in Anita Sundstrom. There were a few red herrings, thrown in for good measure. I found it all very satisfying and enjoyable.

I look forward to meeting Sundstrom again and discovering more of the delights of Sweden.

Many thanks to McNidder and Grace for my review copy!

About Northern Crime

Reviewer with a mind of her own. This is a collection of book reviews, which started in 2014. Mostly crime and odd other genres thrown in. Some I loved. Some I loathed. You get the picture.

I must start this series – it looks really good and your review’s encouraged me that I’ll like it. (That’d be a surprise! Linda and Christine like same book!)

I remember seeing this one somewhere or maybe one of the 2 that follow this one. It sounded good, but I didn’t pick it up. I think I shall now that you’ve given your opinion. LOL
