Blood Lines – Angela Marsons

How do you catch a killer who leaves no trace?

A victim killed with a single, precise stab to the heart appears at first glance to be a robbery gone wrong. A caring mother and social worker lost to a senseless act of violence. But for Detective Kim Stone, something doesn’t add up.

When a local drug addict is found murdered with an identical wound, Kim knows instinctively that she is dealing with the same killer. But with nothing to link the two victims except the cold, calculated nature of their death, this could be her most difficult case yet.

Desperate to catch the twisted individual, Kim’s focus on the case is threatened when she receives a chilling letter from Dr Alex Thorne, the sociopath who Kim put behind bars. And this time, Alex is determined to hit where it hurts most, bringing Kim face-to-face with the woman responsible for the death of Kim’s little brother – her own mother.

As the body count increases, Kim and her team unravel a web of dark secrets, bringing them closer to the killer. But one of their own could be in mortal danger. Only this time, Kim might not be strong enough to save them…

A totally gripping thriller that will have you hooked from the very first page to the final, dramatic twist.

My thoughts

I was excited to see another adventure for Kim Stone appear on my kindle. We are now at the fifth installment with Blood Lines. This time, Kim is back with a very familiar adversary, the delicious psychopath Alexandra Thorne. What a great plan to bring our favourite female villain back!

Alex and Kim met in Evil Games. My advice is to read Evil Games, before this book to appreciate the character of Alex fully. We could all see that there were unresolved issues between the two of them. Behind bars, Alex still manages to cause havoc and manipulate those around her. She has her sights on Kim. She wants Kim to suffer.

Kim Stone and her team is on the case of a senior social worker, who has been murdered. This seems to link to the death of a drug addict. They both have been attacked using a similar method. Little does she know that Doctor Alexandra Thorne is back to her old tricks.

You know when you have a Kim Stone story in your hand, you are in for a guaranteed great read. Angela Marsons has done it again, with a fabulous story that has you forgetting the outside world exists for a few hours. As the series has progressed and we have seen how Kim is a product of a difficult and abusive background, we have all just loved her even more. Kim Stone versus Alex Thorne is pure class!

Top marks from me! I’m already looking forward to more Kim Stone adventures, in the future…

About Northern Crime

Reviewer with a mind of her own. This is a collection of book reviews, which started in 2014. Mostly crime and odd other genres thrown in. Some I loved. Some I loathed. You get the picture.
