Top bloggers choose a #crime summer read: Victoria from Off The Shelf Books @VictoriaGoldma2

I’m Victoria Goldman and my blog is Off-the-Shelf Books ( I review mainly crime fiction, though I do occasionally delve into other genres. I’m a freelance health journalist/editor and I’m also writing crime fiction.

My Crime Summer Read choice is Rattle by Fiona Cummins (Panmac). It was published in e-book and hardback in January 2017 and will be out in paperback on August 24th. It’s the perfect summer holiday page-turner – if you love chills, thrills and horror.

I certainly loved this serial killer book. It’s so different to other crime novels out there. I’m now getting all excited again as the second book, The Collector, is being published in January 2018 and there are already some ARCs for bloggers floating around. Rattle has a very chilling plot, with children disappearing and a serial killer on the loose. The Collector is the best fictional serial killer I’m come across for a long time.

Fiona Cummins is an amazing writer. Her vivid descriptions made my skin tingle and her plot was gripping and intriguing. The book was really well researched too, with lots of medical background, which I found fascinating due to my job. This is a crime thriller with unbelievable layering and depth. I visited the Hunterian Museum, which is mentioned in the book, earlier this year.

I highly recommend Rattle – go on, treat yourself this summer!

About Northern Crime

Reviewer with a mind of her own. This is a collection of book reviews, which started in 2014. Mostly crime and odd other genres thrown in. Some I loved. Some I loathed. You get the picture.
